Incidence Response

This procedure describes general guidelines for patrollers to render medical care for guests.

  1. Guest is experiencing a medical complaint and requires aid

  2. Dispatch is notified and begins documenting incident

  3. Dispatch notifies Patrol of Guest complaint and location on channel 1 or 2

  4. Patroller 1 responds and notifies Dispatch

  5. Dispatch notifies Patrol that Patroller 1 is responding

  6. Patroller 1 arrives on scene and notifies Dispatch

  7. Patroller 1 performs patient assessment, updates Dispatch, and requests needs

  8. Patroller 2 responds with toboggan and equipment and notifies Dispatch

  9. Dispatch requests EMS, HELP Flight, Billings Beartooth Clinic (BBC), as required

  10. Patroller 2 arrives on scene and notifies Dispatch

  11. Patrollers 1 and 2 render medical care and load Patient into toboggan

  12. Patrollers 1 and 2 depart scene with Patient and notify Dispatch

  13. Patrollers 1 and 2 arrive at base patrol and notify Dispatch

  14. Patrollers 1 and 2 move Patient into base patrol and provide additional care

  15. Patroller 1 thoroughly completes documentation

  16. Patroller 2 contacts Guest Services on Ch 3 to coordinate EMS or POV to aid room

  17. Patroller 2 hangs used equipment in locker room to dry, loads new “burrito” into toboggan, and prepares toboggan to cycle back up mountain

  18. If Patient departing by privately owned vehicle (POV):

    1. Guest Services assists Patient’s family/friend driving their POV to base patrol

    2. Patrollers 1 and 2 assist Patient to POV

    3. Patroller 1 notifies Dispatch Patient departed by POV to BBC or home, requests “Incident Reported” time, and documents on form

    4. Patroller 1 notifies BBC the patient is en route via POV and fax documentation

  19. If EMS responding:

    1. Patroller 1 provides Patient brief to EMS

    2. Patrollers 1 and 2 assist EMS moving patient to cot and into ambulance

    3. Patroller 1 notifies Dispatch the Patient departed by ambulance to BBC

    4. Patroller 1 notifies BBC patient coming via EMS and fax documentation

  20. Patroller 2 cycles toboggan up mountain and returns to station

  21. Patroller 1 files forms in desk drawer, cleans base patrol, and returns to station
